Commercial dishwasher not heating or not draining

A dishwasher down in the middle of service soon turns into a mountain of plates. Here’s what usually causes it.

Not heating

In hard-water areas like Essex, elements get covered in scale and burn out. The photo above is a real element we replaced. A failed thermostat, contactor or safety cut-out can also stop it heating.

Not draining

Check the filters and the drain hose for blockages first. If it still won’t drain, the drain pump has usually failed or jammed.

Not filling, or overfilling

Usually a faulty inlet (solenoid) valve, a blocked inlet filter or a pressure switch problem.

Before you call

Switch it off and turn the water off if it’s leaking. Take a photo of the data plate and any error on the display, so we bring the right parts.
